Drop waist

I had my first driving lesson today and even though I was mostly terrified the entire time, it was also just a little bit fun. I thought that I would start out driving somewhere with no people or other cars but I actually started driving on the big road outside my house. I was totally not expecting that and the entire time I was driving out of my street onto the big road, this is what was going through my head:
no..no...no...no..oh no....oh no the cars are going so fast...ahhhhhhhhhhh...i want to go back....

But I made it through in one piece so that's always a good thing :) I also made a huge mistake yesterday by starting to read Divergent at 11 pm. I told myself I would only read one chapter but one chapter turned into two chapters and then I just kept telling myself I would just read one chapter more. So anyway, I ended up going to sleep at 2 am because I didn't want to go to sleep until I finished the book. Now I can't wait for the movie! Have you read it before?

  1. YES!! I think I mentioned it on the post where you first mentioned that book. I LOVE Divergent! Like you, I couldn't stop reading it. I'm impatiently for the library to get the second book on the holdshelf for me so I can continue reading!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm 22 and just learned to drive in April. Yep, I'm a late bloomer. I was really scared to drive and at times I still am (haven't tried the freeway yet) but it gets easier, especially in familiar areas. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon enough!

I've not read that book. Ok, since you highly recommend it, I guess I'll have a look at it soon.
I like this dress you are wearing. The shade is really nice =)

  5. I love the drop waist dress! Those sandals are wonderful too. Driving can be so scary when you first start out! After a few years it's almost like second nature. Good luck with your future driving lessons :)

  7. Is that another teen book? I must check it out if it's that good! :) I remember learning to drive. It is scary, but you get used to it the more you drive. I think the scariest is at night, so practice doing that as much as you can! :) That dress is so cute and I love your sandals! <3

  9. that's very smart of your driving teacher to get you on a big road first, cos then you'll realize there isn't anything actually that scary about it. but, yeh, i remember my first driving lesson: I was terrified! lovely outfit too joyce, drop waists suit you! :)

  11. Your dress is so lovely and congrats on your first driving lesson!!! Glad you are still in one piece :D. We have something in common. I often do the same thing if a book is really great I just can't stop reading. Most of the time it's 3am and I still read. I have heard of the book but I haven't read it yet. I read some reviews and it looks like something that I would love :D

  12. nope, I haven't heard about that book/film but usually books and film about future are not quite my thing. I also haven't read The Hunger Games and I haven't seen the film either. it just doesn't look like something that would attract me. anyway, good luck with your driving lessons! I know it feels scary now but later you will be happy when you're finally driving your own car. believe me because I know ;)
ps. I love it how the necklace looks like a part of your dress. very clever layering!

  18. hahaha I remember driving the first time--sounds just about the same as you described it! Did you ever have trouble with using one foot instead of two? I always wanted to use one foot for each pedal the first week or so. It was so hard to break me of that awful habit. But I think you're doin' awesome so far!! And good that you went on the roads the first time. My dad brought me in this old dirt road in a neighborhood being built using a stick shift Jeep.. ahh, good times.

Hehe, I love the lighting in these photos! So orange and warm and glowy. And gosh, that drop waist dress looks gorgeous on you. You make me want to try one... oooh.

And yay for reading late at night! *____* I hope you enjoyed it!!

  24. Haha, oh man, when I start a good book, the same thing happens to me. Divergent was so good! I think I finished it up in a day.
And you'll get better, don't worry. Driving is always terrifying when you first start off. It still makes me a bit stressed at times when I'm driving down the busy roads here in town.
    Just always stay alert!
Anyway, love the drop waist dress girl, I have yet to own anything with this type of design

I've never read divergent, but I should probably put it on my list. It sounds like an interesting summer time read :)

Getting into a book you cannot put down is the BEST. Think about how much less guilty you should feel staying up til 2 to read, as opposed to, say, watching infomercials. No shame!

Thank you for your sweet comments on my blog! I am basically obsessed with your style & blog (Elana was right, you really do have impeccable taste!)...so I really appreciate them :)

I can hardly even remember that now, although i do remember the whole learning to parallel park using recycle bins on our street fiasco haha.
