Making a Prom Dress Casual+Closetica Launch

I have some really exciting news! So a few months ago, my friend and I started thinking of starting an online store and now our store,Closetica, is finally ready to open! Since animals have always been a big part of my friend's and I's lives (she has a dog (that has cat ears because it's a shiba inu hahahah) and I volunteer at the zoo), we decided that all profits from the store will go towards ASPCA. 

Our first product is this tee with a cat pocket($13) and it's part of the Closetica Collection (which will have clothes/accessories with an animal theme). In the future, we'll also have clothes that are not part of the collection but the profits will still go towards ASPCA. Let me know if you have any requests  for clothes you want to see in the store! Oh and whenever there's new merchandise, i'll announce it on the side of my blog :)

On a completely unrelated note, I found this dress on clearance at macy's in the prom section so I just decided to buy it (for recitals, not prom :p) but I also wanted to be able to wear it to school so I casual-ified it with the tee.

DIY Sweater to Cardigan

 

I've always wanted a grey cardigan so  I decided to cut this sweater since I never wear it anyways (it's really tight). But I didn't sew the edges so I really hope it doesn't start falling apart in the washing machine. Hmmm or maybe it might get fringy edges and that would look even better! And the denim bow top is also a super easy diy project (see it here). I don't think i've ever worn so many diy projects in one outfit!

So I visited some colleges in LA this past week and now I am sooo excited to start college (even though i'm not even a senior yet....). The campuses are so big and the libraries look like the kind in Harry Potter. And did you know that parts of Legally Blonde were filmed in UCLA and USC? haha campus tours are so fun :)

5 Steps to Making an Outfit under 5 Minutes

This school year, I've been forced to create outfits quickly because I always wake up too late (oops) and I don't plan out my outfits the day before (can't believe I had time for that last year) but now I've learned how to make outfits under 5 minutes! I found out it's actually a lot easier to start with a statement piece than to start with the basics. That way, there's a smaller chance of making a bland outfit. So anyway, here's how to make an outfit quickly!

Weekend outfit: Maxi Dress

I've been wearing this maxi dress so often ever since I got it. haha i'm really tempted to get it in all colors since it is seriously that comfortable. And here's a totally random story of something that happened while I was wearing this dress a few days ago:

me: *walking to the mailbox*

neighborhood kid 1(elementary school age): Joyce, are you going to a wedding? Your dress is so long.

neighborhood kid 2 (tiny bit older): Yeah, where are you going?

me: hahahah, i'm just getting the mail.

neighborhood kid 2: *loud whisper* see! I told you! She isn't getting married yet.

me (same day, this time I didn't belt the dress): *walking to go get something in the car*

neighborhood kid 1: Joyce, why are you going to sleep soon?

neighborhood kid 2: How come you're already wearing your pajamas?

I'm so happy because I finally found a no heat curling technique that is easy enough for me to do. (Seriously, I tried doing the sock bun three times and it fell apart every time). So anyways, I did the headband curling thing and it works! Woohoo!What's your favorite way to style your hair?

It's almost spring break! (Well in about a week and a half...) And i'm planning on visiting some colleges in southern California during that time and even though i'm kind of nervous about the whole college application process thing for next school year, i'm also kind of excited about going to college :)
